Everyone is wondering what will come of the recent Facebook and Cambridge Analytica situation. To tell you the truth, we don’t have all the answers yet. However, we do know there have been some recent changes to the Facebook platform which has trickled down to the third-party platforms we use for scheduling out social media posts for our clients.
These changes have specifically affected the data we can capture on Instagram and how we will be able to track our clients following or how their following are interacting with them. This will also bring limitations to finding relevant hashtags for our clients’ searchability.
Whats does it mean?
We use Hootsuite to schedule out some of our clients’ social media posts. Because of the privacy changes being implemented, we will have to re-authenticate Facebook profiles every 90 days. This includes Instagram profiles as well because Facebook owns Instagram. Here at Amplify, our client’s privacy is our number one concern. The changes being made are only to help protect their users’ privacy. We will be monitoring this situation closely and will have updates out to everyone as soon as possible.
